Book Review: Alchemised by SenLinYu

I truly did not know what I got myself into when I picked up Alchemised by SenLinYu.

Imagine waking up with no memory… only to discover you were once an alchemist in a world ruled by necromancers.

This was my 2025 grand finale read… and what a way to end the year. A gothic, brutal, emotionally devastating masterpiece that shot straight into my top 3 all-time favorites.

This book didn’t just tell a story; it consumed me, broke me, and stitched me back together differently.

What This Book Is About (No Spoilers)

Helena Marino wakes up with fragmented memories in a world that has already burned to the ground.

Once a promising alchemist, she is now a prisoner of war, of her captors, and of her own mind.

The Resistance is gone. Her allies are dead. And the ruling world? Controlled by corrupt guild families and powerful necromancers who wield undead horrors like weapons.

But something doesn’t add up.

If Helena was truly insignificant…
Why are they so desperate to unlock her memories?

What unfolds is a chilling journey of identity, survival, and truth, set against a decaying world filled with secrets that feel as dangerous as the monsters lurking in it.

What Makes This Book So Addictive

1. A Broken Heroine You Can’t Look Away From

Helena isn’t your typical strong FMC; she’s fractured, confused, and constantly fighting to hold onto herself. And that’s exactly what makes her so powerful.

2. Dark World-Building That Feels Alive

Alchemy meets necromancy in a world that feels rotting, eerie, and deeply immersive. Every detail adds to the tension.

3. A Romance That Hurts

This isn’t soft or easy love. It’s raw, forbidden, and emotionally devastating… the kind that lingers long after you close the book.

4. Emotional Impact That Stays With You

By the time you finish, you won’t be the same reader you were when you started.

If You Loved…

  • A Court of Thorns and Roses → for emotional intensity + romance
  • Throne of Glass → for epic scope + character growth
  • Manacled → for dark themes + emotional devastation

Then you will LOVE Alchemised!

My Final Thoughts

Some books entertain you.
Some books stay with you.

And then there are books like Alchemised

The kind that WRECKS you completely and somehow leaves you grateful for it.

This story is heavy, haunting, and really not for everyone, but if you love dark fantasy with depth, pain, and unforgettable characters, this is absolutely worth the emotional commitment.
